It’s not easy being King, but its even harder being every King your kingdom will ever have. That is your curse, you will live a thousand times and die a thousand times and each time you’ll carry the knowledge you had before. Sounds like a blessing more than a curse right? Perhaps, perhaps not…

Reigns is a deceptively simple game in which you make choices by clicking left and right or a central picture. This game involves trying to maintain a careful balance through your choices. Each decision you make will effect at least one of the four stats (being religion, population, military and money) you have by increasing or decreasing them. In some cases these choices have long lasting effects that span into your next reign. If any stat becomes empty or full your reign will end, usually with you dying.

There’s quite a bit of depth to this game with a story that runs far deeper than any single reign. But this depth isn’t only in the story. There is a lot to this game, sword fighting, dungeon crawling and even a few puzzles thrown in for good measure. All using the click left and right mechanic that you use for making the choices.

For what the game is I have to say I really like it, its just surprising how much the developer has gotten out of a simple mechanic like selecting ‘yes’ and ‘no’. If you fancy something a little different I say give this a shot, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

If this appeals to you perhaps try;
