The Fridge Reviews

I said I’d do a piece on E3 and here it is. Sorry its taken so long for me to actually do but I wanted to have a good long mull over all the stuff that happened (and also watch what I could of it through youtube since I wasn’t actually there).

So here it is, the games I’m looking forward to from E3;

Dishonored 2

I loved playing Dishonored (and a review will appear of it eventually on here) and I remember calling it a ‘spiritual successor to Thief’ and I still think it i, that new Thief game wasn’t worthy of the title.
I’m very glad they announced this because I wanted to explore more of the world. While the Knife of Dunwall and Brigmore Witches DLC’s did give me some more I’m hoping this one will really expand on it. Being able to choose whether to play as Corvo or Emiliy Kaldwin is very cool, especially if the information I’ve read is right. Apparently if you play as Emily you will get more story and more gameplay in general.

Doom

I’ve played every Doom game that my grubby little hands could get since I was a child, and like many other people I was somewhat underwhelmed by Doom 3. This game seems to be heading in the right direction with its insanely over the top action and gore.
Of course I know that everything I saw was scripted and likely whats known as a ‘vertical slice’, so while I’m hopeful I’m taking this with a grain of salt or two.

Battleborn

Gearbox did the unexpected when they revealed this. I’m sure everyone was expecting to see the next Borderlands game and instead they get a whole new IP.
It certainly looks like its going to be fun. Unfortunately that’s about all I can say for it because information about it is sparse.

Fallout 4

Yep, I’m a Fallout geek. I’ve been playing them since the first game came out so the series and I go way back. There’s nothing I can really add to the conversation about Fallout 4 that hasn’t been said by a thousand other people.
I will say this however, I won’t be getting the collectors edition. As much as I would love to have a Pipboy I don’t own a Iphone and frankly it looks way too bulky for my liking.

Cuphead

Ah this little gem! I know the Xbone seems to be laying claim to the title but I’m certain it will make an apperance on PC as well. They’d be stupid not to. Those old school drawing technics set it apart from everythign else at E3 and in general! Plus those enemies look amazing and so imaginative.

Mass Effect: Andromeda

Y’know I had been wondering how they could continue the story of  the Mass Effect universe. I threw around ideas like it would be a prequel set around the Skyllian Blitz and the first contact war with the Turians, or that it would be set so far in the future that the decisions made would make no difference. I didn’t fr even a moment consider that they would go to another galaxy! That’s definitely one way of side stepping the whole ‘Ending’ problem.

Fable Legends

Not sure why this had to be linked to the Fable franchise, other than for the fame the name itself has. Either way this game certainly looks interesting, with asymmetrical multiplayer at its core. I’m going to take a wild guess that its not going to have a single player campaign though.

Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst

At last! I’ve wanted a continuation of this franchise for a long while. Apparently its not a sequel so I’m not sure what to make of that. Time will tell. To be honest as long as I get those gorgeous visuals and to play as Faith again I won’t mind overly!

The Hololens

I know, I know, its not a game. I also know that what they showed at E3 wasn’t strictly true, and that the actual area the hololens uses is quite small. But join me for a moment of flight of fanciful speculation!

Have you ever played a ARG (as in a augmented reality game)? At the moment the best of these send you emails and have hints placed within everyday advertising. Now try and imagine one that involves the Hololens. I doubt you can use it outside but just think, what if someone created a ARG game that required you to watch a advert for something at home to give you the next step in the game. Or one that had a message appear in your field of view when you look at a specific website? Or on a more simple thought, how about having the Hololens act as your HUD for a FPS or even a strategy game? See, lots of way it could transform and improve gaming.
