You might be wondering why I’m doing a blast review for Serious Sam 3 when the other two have had a longer one? It’s simple really. There isn’t that much that this game does differently from its predecessors that would warrant a longer review. The core of the game play is the same, hordes of enemies attack and you blast away at them until they stop attacking. Graphically its had a lick of paint true but again beyond that there really aren’t many changes. If you played Serious Sam: The First Encounter HD then you’ve essentially played this.

As is to be expected from a sequel there are new enemies to defeat as well as old favorites, a few weapons have been swapped out as well but again old staples like the double barrelled shotgun and the rocket launcher remain.

So… here’s the elephant in the room though, chronologically this game is set before Serious Sam: The First Encounter… but its the third game (in the main series), but not really because the third game was Serious Sam 2… which is not considered to be canon anymore. Basically this series is a confusing mess and required the dev’s to clarify the chronology in a Steam community thread.
