I bought this game after spotting it in a sale on Gog.com (I think it was under £1 at the time). I’ve always been intrigued by this game because of the reputation it garnered when it released originally. That is to say, this game was a HUGE flop and a highly publicised one at that. It reached the ‘No Man’s Sky’ level of public outcry and ridicule and that was at a time when the internet wasn’t really mainstream yet. In a way that’s kind of impressive.
So yeah, I bought it to see if the legends were true and… wow yes, yes they are true. This game is truly an unredeemable dumpster fire. It’s really ugly and that has nothing to do with the engine they used, the original release of Half-Life came out two years before this and was using the Quake engine (bearing in mind Daikatana used the Quake 2 engine) and that game was much better looking. In Daikatana everything looks too muddy and dark, textures just meld together its horrid.
I could stomach playing about two hours of this game and no more. It’s just too awful please for your own sake skip this game. Oh and there are no screenshots because they all came out looking like blurry ugly messes.
