When I started this game I knew that I was going to be in for a wild ride, every game I’ve played by Daniel Mullins has always been far more than it appears. The main issue I have with reviewing this game is that there is so little I can mention that isn’t a spoiler that would ruin it. Honestly, the best way to play this game is with as little information as possible. Let it surprise you.
What I can say is that the main way you’ll be interacting with this game is through a card game in a similar vein as something like Magic the Gathering (though much less complex in many ways). Though this card game you’ll learn more about the world and the situation you find yourself in. Death and loss are an important part of this game, it’s almost guaranteed that you will lose many many times, but that’s a good thing. With each loss comes the chance to create something greater (quite literally).

As I said earlier there is very little I can say without spoiling the game and I truly don’t want that. What I can say is that if you’ve played any of Daniel Mullins games before (Pony Island and the Hex) you know that what this game presents is not what it seems and that there is far far more to it than a mere card game.
