I have to say it’s impressive just how many games have appeared from the Steamworld IP. When I picked up Steamworld Dig I assumed it would be a one off, a fun idea but that’s it. Now we’re on… four games, I think? With each one progressing an overarching narrative as far as I can tell.
This time you play as Dorathy (or ‘Dot’) who was an NPC in the previous game. She’s on the hunt for Rusty, the player character from the previous Steamworld Dig and she’s managed to track him to a town named El Machino.

Sadly there really isn’t much I can say about this game that I didn’t already state for its predecessor. Sure, its an overall improvement with graphics being
polished up and the characters having a more fluid animation motion to them. But with a few small exceptions, it’s the same game, and that’s not a bad thing the first one was very good! If you want to read the review for the last game click HERE.
A new feature is the upgrade cogs that are scattered around the world. These cogs allow you to apply effects to your equipment, what’s interesting is that
these cogs can be reassigned at the workbench located in the hub town of El Machino.
