I do believe I’ve mentioned on a few occasions that I sometimes enjoy a point and click adventure game in the style of The Dig or Full Throttle. The Darkside Detective series are those style of games. However, because the main character is a Detective within the police the games are able to tell several linked stories as separate cases rather than one continuous narrative. This quite simple idea allows for several different adventures to be told where some characters will reoccur without it seeming forced.

Honestly, I don’t have that much to say about these games. They’re somewhat middle of the road in many respects, the pixel art is serviceable, the humour is hit and miss (as humour often is) and the puzzles can be challenging but aren’t overly difficult. The strong point of these games are definitely their stories and should a sequel appear I will definitely be playing them, but there are much better games within this genre to play that you can get at a cheaper price.
