Unheard: Voices of Crime

Developer: Next Studios
Rrp: £5.19 (Steam)

This is one of those games that feels like it took a heavy dose of inspiration from Return to the Obra Dinn. Much like the aforementioned title the game revolves around exploring a scene and trying to ascertain who is who as well as answer a few key questions. The difference here is Obra Dinn wants you to answer what happened to each crew member while this game changes what answers it wants depending on the scene. For example, the tutorial has you trying to identify two brothers (as well as the officers interrogating them) and answer who hid the drugs.

Each scene shows you a blueprint map of a building, from this view you control your character and move from room to room listening in to the various conversations as you go. At any time you can pause, rewind or even fast forward the events. This allows you to cross reference conversations and see if anyone’s lying or giving clues to what you need to know.

This is one of those short and sweet games that I love. It even has some DLC, sadly from what I can see it’s all in untranslated Korean which makes it impossible for me to play. Still if you want a fairly short game with a good mystery I highly recommend it!
