Humanity has been enslaved by an AI, it’s a classic premise that’s been portrayed many many times from films like the Matrix through to books like I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream (though in that case there aren’t many humans left). What makes this different is that in this game you play as the AI and have to manage all those pesky humans.

So, as I just alluded to in the above paragraph, this game is a resource management game. The resources that you manage are humans, the humans exhaustion, food and power. You’re trying to find a balance of the right number of humans to be able to produce food (for them to eat) and produce the ever increasing amount of power you need to continue existing. You’ll be swapping humans near to exhaustion out for ones that are less exhausted constantly (they die if they become completely exhausted), be they in the treadmill, the food producer or the breeding tube.

The humour in this is very dark, I mean it’s hard to have light hearted humour when you’re enslaving and dissolving humans. There are also a ton of references from Back to The Future to Cthulhu that appear in the random events that occur.
I do have to make a bit of a special mention about the breeding tube… I know that the humans are only a handful of pixels but I was very surprised that I could absolutely tell what the humans in there were doing. I mean, obviously I knew what was happening, I just wasn’t expecting to see it animated.

If you like a management game then this one may well scratch an itch, it’s pretty fun and there are a lot of game modes to unlock that really change things up.
