Lume is a short point and click adventure puzzle game in which you play as a boy who shares the games title, Lume.
When I say the game is short I mean extremely so, I completed it within 30 minutes and that was mainly due to me having a moment where I couldn’t work out one of the puzzles.

Being such a short game there aren’t that many puzzles, but what puzzles there are range from simple to maddening. Unfortunately I found that the difficulty curve became rather steep on the last few.

On Pc the game runs through flashplayer, and in certain resolutions the game will black out the majority of the screen and give the player a tiny, windowed view. This issue is easily fixed by tabbing out and changing a few settings on flashplayer itself though.

One of the things that appeals to me about this game is the craftsmanship, and I do mean that. Each environment, character and puzzle was created by hand out of paper and card (and a few real life props). So I found it a joy to watch something as basic as Lume’s movement around the world.
Dialogue is dealt with through speech or thought bubbles, so there is no voice acting to speak of. It does have a very fitting soundtrack however, and it’s one I shall be buying myself.

From what research I have done it would seem that this game was kind of a proof of concept for a project that State of Play Games are currently working on. I shall be keeping an eye on this project because the concept is so good and all I want from Lume is for there to be more of it.

As I have mentioned throughout the review, the game is incredibly short, too short to really justify the price tag in my mind.
