The opening of the Vault in the first game has caused many other Vaults to begin to show themselves. But this one is special, it won’t just open for anyone, it needs “the blood of the ultimate coward to be spilled by the champion of Pandora” before it will open. So of course Mr. Torgue CEO of the Torgue corporation sets up a tournament to find the Ultimate Badass! I wonder if the Vault Hunter who defeated Handsome Jack is qualified?

You could call this DLC a glorified combat arena and in some ways it kinda’ is. Except there is more to it, unlike the Moxxi DLC from the first game this one has a story that runs through it, with multiple characters, most of which you’ll probably enjoy hating. The missions though are reasonably varied, of course you’ll still get ‘find this person and kill them’ missions but there’s also a racing one and a bar brawl.

I have to admit, I love the character of Mr. Torgue, he embodies everything that is Borderlands to me, right down to the things that seem to contradict his personality that you discover in later DLC’s.
Mr. Torgue is kinda like a cross between Hulk Horgan and Machoman Randy Savage, if that means something to you then you know exactly what I mean, if not… Go google them, I’ll wait.

As with the previous DLC you’re introduced to new enemies, weapons and Badass Ranks (though most of the enemies are more like colour swapped versions of the main games). This DLC also includes a new edition in the form of Torgue Tokens, you collect these tokens by completing repeating side missions (as in once you hand it in the mission reappears) or killing enemies who will occasionally drop them. You can spend these tokens in special Torgue vending machines, be wary though, there is no refund available once they are bought and no buyback feature either.

I definitely think that this DLC is worth your time, it’s way more than a simple combat arena DLC. Although the actual combat within the arena is a ton of fun and even on the easiest settings is challenging.
