The war is over and peace wins the day! Huzzah! But all is not well in Aventasia, political unrest (that seems eerily familiar), lingering curses, crime and not to mention the biggest problem of them all… Students. Can Wilbur, Ivo, Nate and Critter win out? Maybe, with a little help from you.
The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is a point and click adventure game and the sequel (shock, I know) to The Book of Unwritten Tales and The Book of Unwritten Tales: The Critter Chronicles. As it was with the first game you get to play as Nate, Ivo, Wilbur and Critter depending on what chapter you’re on.
I’ll be honest, if you’ve read my review on the first game or the prequel then you essentially know pretty much everything there is to know about this game, at least when it comes to the mechanics.

The original game used fractured storytelling and this sequel is no different, although this time the effect has been achieved better with events happening quite a bit out of sequence rather than only a few minutes (like the first game). As was also expected the game also features a lot of pop culture and fantasy literature references, some are very small little details and others might as well scream it.
There’s also been an extremely large graphical leap from the last game. The animations and effects are much smoother than in its predecessors, although the lip synching is still slightly off. The humour and writing of the game has improved quite a bit too. Basically you can generally tell that the game had a larger budget spent on it.

Sorry if it feels like I’m phoning this review in but there really isn’t that much to say without going into the story and I would rather keep that unspoiled if I can. On the whole though I have to say that I feel that The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is well worth the money they’re asking for it.
