Way back in April of 2015 I reviewed the original release of this game, or at least, as close as I could get to it. Since that was written the developer/publisher Double Fine have been remastering and re-releasing many of these older titles, which of course includes Full Throttle. Since I’ve essentially already reviewed this game I’ll instead focus on what’s different about this and show a few comparisons for you to see for yourself.
In the original release you were kicked you straight into game from start up (baring the awesome intro video), this could be a little jarring and made the game feel a little rushed. With this remaster Double Fine have added a menu screen boasting such features as an options menu and bonus content like concept art, music and commentary from the creators of the original game.
The new renders are beautiful and very much stick to the aesthetic of the original game. In some ways it almost feels a shame to have lost some of the pixel art but I can’t argue with the clarity of the images the remaster uses.
The audio has been cleaned up and sounds much more clear, this is especially noticeable with the music. The dialogue has been given the same treatment but it was lifted from the original game and there is only so much you can do with a lower quality file.
I don’t know if it’s only on my system but if you flick between the rendering modes too often it seems to cause the game to stutter.

On the whole I have to say that this game is an improvement on the original game. The controls make much more sense (although if you truly wish to use the old controls you can change that in the options menu), the graphics are far more detailed and as mentioned before the sound assets have been cleaned up too. Throw in the bonus content and this makes for an excellent remaster.
