I sit here in contemplation, I’ve just finished Owlboy and I know that I love this game but putting that into words, that’s the hard part. It positively oozes charm and whimsy, all the while not once skimping out on quality. Everything, the animation, the writing, the world building and the music just show such attention to detail. Every pixel has been used to its fullest effect and the end result is just damned impressive.

Of course I know that many will have no reason to even give this game the time of day. It is after all yet another pixel art 2D platformer, not exactly a hard game type to find. But they would be missing out, I would happy hold this game up and declare it a classic, something that should be studied by future games designers.
I do admit that at the very beginning of the game (as in the tutorial) I found I had something of a hard time playing it. Not because of janky controls or anything technical. No, for me it was the fact that Otus (the player character) is mistreated by his mentor and I found it a bit hard to play through. He is the hero of the story though so it does turn out for the better.

What more do I have to say? Get it. I think that’s all I can really say about it.
