As wonderful as it is that the Christmas season brings everyone together, sometimes you need a few moments alone, just to unwind and recharge those social batteries. Because of that, I thought this game would be a great addition to the Christmas line-up. Welcome to The Room (but not that ‘The Room’, no Tommy Wiseau’s were involved in the making of this game.. so far as I know).
The Room is 3D puzzle game in which you solve puzzles to open an series of boxes that grow in complexity with each one completed. You can brute force your way through the puzzles by just clicking everything until something happens. However as strange as it sounds you can work out the puzzles faster by paying close attention to the little details; like finding a piece of ornamentation that looks out of place, a slight discolouration of the surface of the box, or if all else fails use the lens which is sometimes the essential to solving a fair few puzzles.
It has to be said that the date we have listed above isn’t exactly accurate. True, this version of the game did come out on the 28th of July 2014, however this version is a graphically enhanced one. Originally this game was released as a mobile game in 2012. Not that I particularly care, a good game is a good game regardless of the platform it originated from.

The game itself is actually quite short, with my total playtime lasting about 3 hours and yes, that is with all the achievements as well. But at a price point of £3.99 that isn’t a bad deal, its also clearly the first part of a series, something a quick search on Steam confirms. On the whole yeah, good game. Although I do have a tip for anyone who may be considering it, don’t tab out, the game crashes (or at least it did with me).
