I am of the firm belief that politics are unavoidable and that, when used correctly, can be used to enhance the medium that they’re in. It seems though I am in the minority with that particular opinion. Tonight We Riot is unabashedly political and its definitely not subtle, but then again that’s not the point.

Now it has to be stated here that if you’re someone who believes politics shouldn’t be in video games then just avoid this game. If you’re a someone who leans to the ‘Right’ side of politics then this also is a game that you probably shouldn’t play as this game is very much a ‘Left’ leaning game.

In this game you don’t play as a single character, you play as a movement. You control a single avatar but should that avatar die it switches to another within your rebellion until you run out. The crowd that you gather follows and copies you meaning you have to be careful what you do or they’ll get killed.

Its a pretty good game that is very much echoing of a lot of peoples feelings right now. I should add that I picked this game up through Itch.io when it was selling its Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality. I’ve enjoyed this rather short but very replayable game and I suspect that if you either are left leaning or can put aside your bias you will too.
