You may be wondering why I’m writing a Blast Review of Metro: Last Light Redux rather than give it the same treatment as the original game. Well putting it simply its because many of the things I said about the original game are the same for this title too. There just isn’t enough different about this game for me to really justify it. That isn’t to say this game isn’t good, it very much is, in fact I prefer it to the original.
Even though this game is a story of hope it has a darker tone than Metro 2033 overall, which is saying something as Metro 2033 wasn’t exactly a ray of sunshine. It’s also much more scripted, having far more cutscenes and areas where you just walk through an area. I’m starting to worry about Artyom’s (yes, you play as him) cognitive capabilities as he gets knocked out a lot.

Maybe its just me but I swear this game is more difficult than its predecessor, particularly within the set pieces. There was no moment in the last game where I had to restart a checkpoint more than twice where as in this game I lost count of how many times it happened.
I actually do love this game, I like how it continues the story of Artyom, although I’m not particularly happy that the bad ending of Metro 2033 is the canonical ending but I suppose its unavoidable since this games entire narrative is woven around that.
