Some games just ooze charm and this is one such game, the writing is sharp and witty while the core of the gameplay remains entertaining. You play as a bard, a bard who is on a mission to save the world even if it seems that it doesn’t want to be. Being a bard this means you’re kinda’ useless when it comes to actual combat, your only talent is singing.
The good thing is everything in this game is geared toward singing so its not like you’re lumped with a useless skill.
As I said everything reacts to your singing, be it just that the creatures jolt to attention, change colour or something more. Every encounter is a puzzle for you to solve and they all involve singing in one way or another funnily enough. Thankfully you don’t have to actually sing into a microphone yourself as the ‘sing’ function is mapped to the right analogue stick.

If there were a game that felt like a Cartoon Holiday Special this is it, it’s got it all. The cheesy (but true) message, the overcoming of ones inner demons, the power of friendship. You know, all that stuff that makes you groan from how saccharine sweet it all is but you kinda’ love it anyway. And it’s all contained in a very neat little game that doesn’t outstay its welcome.
