Sometimes you come across a game that you just don’t want to put down, be it because of the story, the gameplay or just simply that something about it floats your boat. It was that third one that had me complete this game from start to finish in a single sitting. To many that would mean this game is too short but I’d argue that its just the right length, at least for this specific game.

So what’s Toem about? The short version is that the game centres around a young photographer and their journey to experience Toem, an event the game is named after. On their way they’ll visit several locations and need to help people to get the stamps they require to continue on in their journey. Helping people in this case always somehow involves your camera which the main way you interact with the world. Sometimes you’l be tasked to take a specific photo, other times you simply need to focus on something in the cameras viewfinder. The game finds a lot of ways to keep this mechanic fresh and interesting, but I’m glad that the developers had the sense to keep the game somewhat short because much more of it would have caused the mechanic to lose its luster.

I really enjoyed my time with this game, its got a lot of charm and wit to it. Plus some of the puzzles are actually a little challenging. This is one game I really hope people take the time to appreciate.
