This game is glorious… and stupid. It’s gloriously stupid. Of course, I’m saying this as a person who has not even once played a Metal Gear game. So while I know that this game connects, somehow, to the rest of the franchise it’s all lost on me and, if I’m being honest, I don’t care. All I know is that I loved how dumb this game was, its so over the top in everything it does and I can’t help but find that unabashed level of commitment wonderful. I truly see why this game is so beloved and very very meme-able.
Y’know I thought the whole ‘Metal Gear games being cutscene heavy’ thing was just a joke but having played this game I suddenly realise how wrong I was. From what I’ve been told this is actually relatively restrained compared to some of the other games. Still, I’m willing to put up with them because this game also allows me to cut enemies (and some terrain) into fine pieces. That ability more than makes up for the flaws within this game.
If you want a game that just makes you feel like a badass (and its just so so dumb) you’d be hard pressed to find one that matches this.
