The Crimson Lance are back with a vengeance, and this time they’ve brought out the big guns. Let’s show them how much Pandora has changed in their absence, if they thought it was going to be easy to reclaim this world they are in for a surprise.

Just as it was with the previous DLC accessing The Secret Armoury of General Knoxx DLC is done through a New-U station where you fast travel to T-Bone Junction. Once you arrive you’ll get the usual stylised and fairly amusing cutscene and then be able to take control again.

With the recent unlocking of the Vault the Atlus Corporation have decided to bring out the big guns. You fought the Crimson Lance before in Old Haven but those were merely scouts, this time you have much stronger competition.

This DLC introduces several new unit types for the Crimson Lance including rocketeers. Yep, guys with jet packs, that’s kinda’ cool. As well a these new enemies there is also a new kind of loot crate, one that contains twice the number of items than the usual sort. It also introduces two new vehicles to control one’s called ‘Moxxi’s Monster’ which is slower than the buggy but takes an deals out more damage and the other is the Lancer which is essentially a tank.

Interestingly when you kill a Crimson Lance soldier they will sometimes drop a power core, these power cores are not only an item you collect for a mission but also provide some short term benefit to yourself. Depending on type of core you pick up you will temporarily gain a benefit, for example shock cores send out regular electrical shock waves around you.

I love that this DLC makes reference to the others that came before it on things like billboards and graffiti, made me chortle a little when I first saw it.

Even when you complete this DLC there are quite a few optional missions you can complete like the Circle of Duty which is a combat arena or you could try your hand at defeating the Secret Final Boss. I’ll say this, it isn’t that secret because if you drive along the highway you’ll see a big sign that’s lit up stating ‘SECRET HIDDEN BOSS’ with a arrow on it. The boss is, well he’s extremely hard to kill, thankfully he’s optional.

Yeah this DLC is totally worth the standard price tag, it’s humorous and challenging as well as adding a whole host of interesting content.
