Mr Waylon Park is a software engineer under temporary contract with the Murkoff Corporation and it seems one with a conscience (not that software engineers are usually without one). Unfortunately sometimes having a conscience can get you into a lot of trouble.
When you get down to it this DLC is exactly the same as the main game, which is not a bad thing. They could have easily ruined it by giving you a firearm or someway to defend yourself. Instead Red Barrels have chosen to use this DLC as a way to continue the story of Mount Massive Asylum, answering a few questions while posing a few more.
But mechanically it’s more of the same, you have a camera that has night vision mode, it needs batteries to run and there are documents you can collect.
This DLCs main difference is that you start in the deepest depths of the asylum and have to work your way out, exactly the opposite of the main character in the main game. It also starts out as a more difficult experience (at least in my opinion) with your character getting chased down almost from the start.
The events of this DLC take place before, during and very shortly after the events of the main game. I know that in theory that this would mean that the DLC is longer than the base game but its amazing what you can cover with a few unconscious scenes.
So is it a worthwhile purchase? If you found the story and gameplay of the main game to your liking then yes, I would say it is. It provides a new challenge to those that have played the original and expands greatly on the events of Mount Massive Asylum, while seeming to hint at a sequel.
