There are lots of puzzle platformers out there, and a fair few of them try to throw in an element of horror into the mix. Little Nightmares is one such puzzle platformer, although it kinda’ falls more into unsettling than horrific for me.

You play a small child, an exceptionally small one really considering that all the antagonists in the game are human and they tend to be well over three times your size. They have a kind of Tim Burton-esq design to them with some elements being elongated or stretched out making them feel uncanny, which is where much of the unsettling feeling comes from.

Like many puzzle platformers the world that Little Nightmares takes place in is very dark, both in hue and setting. There’s a lot of macabre events that happen around you that never overtly state what’s going on but can be very easily read into that paints a very very dark picture.

I have to say I rather like this game, it controls well and provides a good sense of pace for such a short game, never allowing any section to drag on. Pick this up if you ever get the chance, its well worth a look.
