What would you do in a zombie apocalypse? Join a group of survivors? Go it alone? Set up a fortification? All of those are fine but have you considered joining them? Most wouldn’t. It’s not exactly a good way to survive since you, well…. don’t. But if you’re lucky you might be able to become a leader among them or something.
Zombie Night Terror is a horror themed puzzle game somewhat in the vein of Lemmings. The aim of each level typically is to kill a set number of humans, however from time to time you’re given a different objective such as getting zombies out of a level or killing a specific group.
So how is it similar to Lemmings? Well, like with Lemmings you have no real control over the zombies themselves. However what you can do is tell them what doors to break when they encounter them or if they should go up the stairs
or not as they pass. You can also use special mutations to make the zombies perform an action such as run or jump.
As you progress further into the game you gain more mutations that allow you to direct your zombies, such as Overlords. Overlords direct your zombies away or toward a location and can be used in conjunction with other mutations to apply those to any zombie that encounters them.
Each level comes with an extra challenge attached to it. Some are as simple as killing every human in a level whereas others are to hunt down a specific one or perform a set task. There isn’t really any benefit to completing these challenges other than the satisfaction of knowing you did it (and a small mark on the level within the level selector).
Its a pretty decent little game, its not really scary at all, unless zombies scare you so much that even the thought terrifies you. I quite like that the game also comes with a level editor and access to community levels for a bit of added longevity.
