There are a vast number of horror games out there, especially those of the survival horror genre, I suppose its because its easy to create a cheap scare by picking a creepy looking asset and using it for a jump scare. Bendy and the Ink Machine isn’t that though, sure it does have a few jump scares, but it really doesn’t really on them. The developers instead did the single best thing to focus on, they gave the game atmosphere. You feel tense as you play even when nothing is actually happened. You’re just wound up like a coiled spring, tighter and tighter until the moment comes and grabs you… or doesn’t only to get you a few minutes later when you’ve dropped you’re guard.

I love the designs of the characters in this game, or to be more specific those of the cartoon characters the various monsters are based off of. I’ve always had a soft spot for the designs of Fleischer and early Disney (excluding the more… questionable ones).
Even though the game is fairly short, lasting about eight hours or so, I definitely think its a worthwhile purchase as this isn’t some cheap, jump scare laden experience.
