I’ll be honest here, I’ve played as much of this game that I can stand (about six hours). I’m not normally one who is effected overly much by bad voice acting but this game… Oh God. The main culprits were the voices of the narrator and the titular character Gabriel Knight themselves, both of which had absolutely atrocious accents. I LIKE the Cajun accent and that of New Orleans generally but these voice actors attempt at it was very very poor. I do have other issues with the game other than the voice acting but it really is the thing has driven me away.
My other issue is something that Sierra point and click games seemed to love to do. Which is filling up the screen with needless interact-able objects, most of which serve no real purpose. I’ve always preferred the style Lucas Arts used in their point and click games, where there are one or two objects that have no real consequence but most everything on screen has a purpose. In this game the first room has over twenty interact-able objects, most of which do nothing other than force you to hear more of the narrators godawful voice.

However, IF you can get past the voice acting (and yes I know there’s a voice volume slider that I could have used and that I can turn off the narrators voice but I try to play every game using the default settings) there is a actually good game here with a very interesting storyline, it was almost enough to get me to come back and perhaps I will another time just with the voice settings turned off.

Yeah I know this doesn’t tell you much about the game as a whole but the purpose of these Blast Reviews is to allow me a more informal way of speaking about a game without getting into the nitty gritty of it.
