The Uncertain: Last Quiet Day

Developer: New Game Order (Comon Games?)
Steam Deck Compatibility?: Playable
Rrp: £7.19 (Steam), £7.99 (Gog.com and Epic)

Have you ever played the Telltale series of Walking Dead or Wolf Among Us? If you have then this game will feel extremely familiar to you in its mechanics. There’s nothing wrong with that, in fact its quite nice to see another company trying to create the style of game that Telltale is known for (that isn’t Dontnod). For those unfamiliar, that means that this is a game where you solve puzzles in an environment, the puzzles aren’t all that difficult because the most important part of these games is the narrative.
There is one major difference between this game and the Telltale/Dontnod games, the actions you take in this game are not passed on to the next episode (or if they are the game nor games description tell you that).

The game is set in a Post human world and you play as a robot named RT-217NP. However, it becomes quickly apparent that not all the humans are gone and that the powers that be, a company called USS Robotics, are actively trying to hide that fact and seem to dispose of them.

If you do pick up this game I really do recommend turning on the subtitles as on the odd occasion a characters voice line seems to not trigger. Thankfully the subtitle text continues regardless so you won’t miss anything.

Is this a game worth playing? As a standalone I say yes, however, as is often with these kinds of games how good this one is mostly depends on how the future episodes are.
