I’ve seen online others call this game a ‘dark’ Stardew Valley, in a way I suppose they’re right. The two games share a lot of similarities. Cosy games have become very popular of late and arguably Stardew Valley was one of the big games that pushed the genre. Graveyard Keeper is not what I would call a cosy game, people occasionally get burned at the stake… that’s not exactly cosy.
Personally I actually found this game much more difficult than Stardew Valley, when I say difficult I mean that there are more jobs to try and balance. Thankfully, later in the game you get some help in the form of zombies you can raise that will do whatever task you set them to ceaselessly, such has chopping wood or mining ore. But even with the zombies assistance there are a great many tasks to handle you can’t do them all in a single day.

This game resonated with me in a way that Stardew Valley (and many others) never did. I’m not sure if its the darker tone, the humour or something else but I found myself returning over and over. I’ve even installed it on my Steam Deck so I can play it while (attempting) to watch TV.
