The Room 4: Old Sins

Developer: Fireproof Games
Steam Deck Compatibility?: Playable
Rrp: £6.99 (Steam)

It’s been a few years since my last review of this game series, and it seems that as this series has gone on the tone has gone from a bit unsettling to dark to darker still. It’s quite a good move, as I’ve found that I want to see what happens next.

This time the game focuses around a dollhouse with a variety of rooms that you unlock as you play. The further you go into the game the more the puzzles in each room interplay with each other as well as the grounds outside. When you solve a puzzle in the kitchen it affects the laboratory and so on.

The puzzles themselves grow in complexity steadily. I was going to say difficulty but most of them aren’t too taxing. My main piece of advice is if you can’t work out how to solve a puzzle in a room, exit it and try another one, there is a possibility that they’re related in some way.

As expected this has had a graphical update compared to its predecessors, and in fact was given another one before coming to PC from its original mobile game form.
I still feel these games are worth the asking price, but I’d say that it really depends on how much enjoyment you get from solving puzzles.
