I’ve decided to collect all of these headhunter DLC’s into one review because each of them is quite small, only lasting about one or two hours, and well… This Borderlands 2 DLC review has gone on quite long enough I think. So in this post you will find brief reviews of each of the five Headhunter packs.
Before we start however I think I should tell you what these Headhunter packs are. These DLC’s are small areas based on various holidays or events, each putting there own spin on the holiday. Now that that is explained, let’s get on with the show!
Headhunter 1: T.K Baha’s Bloody Harvest
Released: 22nd October 2013
Those who played the first Borderlands and it’s Island of Dr. Ned DLC may find themselves feeling a small amount of deja vu, and understandably so. Dark atmosphere? Check. Rotten buildings? Check. Skeletons? Double check.

While in Hallowed Hollow, you’ll be given several small missions, nothing too taxing and your main mission. Taking down the Pumpkin King! To get to him though you’ll have fight through undead psycho’s and other nasties.

Of course what kind of self respecting Halloween themed DLC doesn’t have candy? And this one is no different, sometimes it’s dropped by an enemy or found in a pumpkin (no crates to be found here), depending on what the candy is will give you a different temporary effect.
Headhunter 2: The Horrible Hunger of the Ravenous Wattle Gobbler
Released: 26th November 2013
Head over to Gluttony Gulch and you’ll see that The Torgue Corporation are at it again with yet another competition. This time though it seems that rather than fighting in a arena you’ll be fighting the Wattle Gobbler! There are some hoops to jump through before you can do so though.

While your there you’ll also get to meet Grandma Flexington who will tell you stories (no, seriously, it’s a mission to stand and listen to them), culminating with a raid level mission, so you need a partner to hear the last one.
Headhunter 3: How Marcus Saved Mercenary Day
Released: 17th December 2013
Despite all evidence to the contrary it seems that Marcus might actually have a small amount of compassion. Or perhaps something went wrong somewhere. You can go see and decide for yourself by heading to Marcus’s Mercenary Shop and going through his wardrobe… yeah, they went there.

It seems that whatever happened caused Marcus to be revered by the inhabitants of the small village of Gingerton. Where once every year they give each other presents on Mercenary Day to celebrate the event. You’ll be finding these presents scattered around and can open them for a bit of loot.

The enemy of the day this time? I’d tell you but it would spoil the surprise. I honestly didn’t see this coming. Still it makes the slaughter interesting to say the least.
Headhunter 4: Mad Moxxi and the Wedding Day Massacre
Released: 11th February 2014
The Hodunks and the Zafords have been feuding for years and now Moxxi has the chance to put all that to an end, with a wedding! But to pull this off she needs help from an outside party.

So you get to run around getting shot at by both families because… Well all of this wedding stuff needs supplies and neither the Zafords or the Hodunks are particularly keen to help with that. It’ll be worth it in the end right? True love wins out and all that…
Headhunter 5: Sir Hammerlock Vs The Son of Crawmerax
Released: 15th April 2014
Sir Hammerlock has invited you to the tropical Wam Bam Island to join in with him in some sun, sea, sand and shooting. You’ll be battling against pirates, bugs, savages and crustaceans while visiting and of course we can’t forget the big bad boss himself, the Son of Crawmerax!

You may wonder what holiday this DLC is supposed to represent, and to be fair it’s not that obvious. This particular DLC is focused on Easter… Yeah I know it really doesn’t have a lot to do with it. There are lots of strangely colored eggs you can find and destroy, and the islands name is kinda a clue to the holidays pagan origins.

I love how colorful this particular piece of DLC is, even if quite a few of the assets were clearly reused from the previous Hammerlock and pirates DLC. I can’t really blame them for that as they both work thematically and aesthetically, and it’s not like I can expect them to create new ones for every installment they create.
So there we have it! All the DLC (excepting character packs, skins, minor optional combat arenas and Ultimate Vault Hunter packs) has now been covered. I know that one of the Ultimate Vault Hunter packs comes with a combat area but I don’t feel that it really worth reviewing as most that will buy that are after the level cap increase not the new fighting arena.
